Alphagator!

My friend D has started selling things from Uppercase Living. Check out her website if you're interested. I'm super excited about the things we purchased. We got a chalkboard for N to play with outside his room, a quote that we put in his bathroom, and an alphagator for his playroom. I especially love the alphagator - check him out!

Spring in Texas

It's springtime in Texas, and we've made the most of the beautiful weekend we just experienced. Yesterday we took N to the Fort Worth zoo and wandered around for hours. He really liked it, but I think he liked looking at the people more than the animals. Everyone had a blast.

Today we took him to the bluebonnet fields just on the outskirts of town for pictures. In Texas every spring tons and tons of wildflowers bloom on the sides of the highways thanks to Lady Bird Johnson. Well, and the weather that is conducive to flower growing. Here are some pictures of us in the wildflowers. Please excuse the squinting - N refuses to wear sunglasses, even though he's got them.

Our new addition

I remember a time (pre-baby) that blog posts were witty and sharp, full of interesting and exciting observations about my otherwise regular life. Then the baby was born, and the blog quickly turned to more pictures than observations. Now we're expecting our second kiddo, and I can only speculate what life is going to be like after baby numero dos arrives. Maybe all words will stop entirely and you'll have to figure out what's going on in our lives via pictorial interpretation. Regardless, that all remains to be seen.

What doesn't remain to be seen - baby #2's sex! We found out today. Our second kiddo is...

A BOY!

That's right - I'm about to be overrun by testosterone. When we head to the movies later in life, cars and explosions will always win out over romantic comedies. Sports will win over shopping.

I'm partial to cars and explosions. I really like sports.

Needless to say, E and I are excited about this. N and his future little brother will have SO MUCH FUN together. I will be honest, there was a part of me that wanted a little girl. I kind of expected to be disappointed if it wasn't a little girl. But when our doctor turned to us and said, "It's a boy!", disappointment is not the feeling I had. I was elated, exactly the way I felt when we found out what N was.

I can't wait to meet this little man. I hope he's ready to be loved more than he can even imagine.

Facelift!

When E and I moved into our house, one of the first things we wanted to do was paint the walls. Bring a little life to the place. However, after thinking it over, we found ourselves paralyzed at the thought of painting the living room ourselves. 22 foot ceilings! How in the world were we supposed to handle that? Scaffolding? This all sounded too complicated. Then we thought about potentially hiring people to do this job for us, but given we didn't have any glowing recommendations, we didn't really know where to begin. Well, we got distracted somehow (had a baby) and sort of forgot about the whole thing. Fast forward a year, and we remembered. We finally sought out recommendations. We hired people to paint our tall ceilings. They did in two days what would have taken us potentially months and months. And we L-O-V-E it. It's fantastic. Here are pictures of our recent home facelift.

Now here's a random picture of N because apparently at this point in my life no post is complete without him. Check out the fantastic use of sippy cup. He's getting good!

N & C playtime

This weekend N insisted that we go south to visit his cousin. He was right - it had been since Christmas that we'd seen my nephew, so we decided to make the trip. We stayed with my brother and sister-in-law, and the rest of the family came up to visit. We had a great time, and it was so fabulous to see everyone. Here are some pictures of the boys playing together.

Three generations! My son, my brother, and my dad...

E's helping C fly here.

This is relatively new. N has started mixing elephant walk into his regular crawl. Everyone keeps telling me that it's a sign of walking to come, but we'll just have to see.

Neither of them can walk yet, but they spent all weekend trying. Look how happy N is to see C coming!

They spent the whole weekend pushing that stool around the kitchen. It was super noisy, but they were having such a good time that it was hard to want to take it away.

Here they are sharing snacktime.

Easter 2010!

We had our first egg hunt this weekend! It was actually more like an egg pickup, since they weren't particularly hidden or anything, but I think N enjoyed it and it was really nice to get outside.

Here N and I are getting ready to head out on Easter morning.

E and N ready for Easter celebrations.

N's happy about Easter!

On another note, Easter marks 20 weeks into our pregnancy for baby numero dos. Because this baby is super shy and wouldn't show us the goods at our last visit, we still don't know if we're having a boy or a girl. Our next opportunity isn't until the 21st of this month, so we get to keep everyone in suspense until then. But because it was requested, here's a picture of the baby bump on Easter. After all, this baby is part of the family too.

Building forts!

E has started building forts for N to crawl around through. We weren't sure he would be interested yet, but he loves it. Clearly!
