N's ball pit

We found a ball pit (similar to what you'd find at Chuck E. Cheese) that you could have in your own home recently. We figured N would love it, so we brought it on home. As expected, he couldn't get enough. Sorry for the blurry pictures - he wouldn't sit still long enough to capture a good one. Oh, and he's got a tooth now! I tried to capture it in the second picture, but he's too fast for me.

N's new room

We recently upgraded N to a big guy room. The new baby will move into his old room, as his old room is approximately four steps closer to the stairs. That may not seem like a big deal, but when the new baby is waking up every four or five hours and N is sleeping soundly through the night I figured four or five steps every few hours would matter to me. Anyway, my friend L has been asking to see pictures of the new digs, so here you go - N's new room. We really like it (even if we still need curtains or something).

Random weekend happenings

Who would believe we'd get this much snow?

E and N took a short jaunt to take pictures in it. We didn't particularly stock up on baby snow suits, so the amount of time we spent playing in the snow was kind of limited.

N has realized that he can see himself in various reflective surfaces in our house, and being that he is narcissistic this is the best thing ever. He crawls around until he finds himself then proceeds to gaze at his beautiful face for longer than I would have thought possible. I can't say that I disagree with his assessment of handsomeness. I would think he'd be more modest though.

In an effort to slowly transition to table food, we've started giving N whatever we're having. Of all the things he's tried so far, his absolute favorites are yogurt, Honey Nut Cheerios, and meatballs (as in "spaghetti and"). Here he is having breakfast of yogurt and Cheerios. He knows it's going to be a good day.

Heaviest single day snowfall in Dallas history!

We're experiencing the heaviest snow Dallas has ever seen. People in Dallas don't deal well with snow, much less six to ten inches of it. This morning, I kid you not, I saw a man who had wiped a tiny peephole in front of his driver's side and left his remaining windows covered with snow/ice. I spent ten minutes of my commute trying to avoid him and all his scary driving. Regardless, it's really pretty and we're having fun with it.

Baby part deux

Arriving August 21, 2010.

We can't wait. Especially N.

After tubes...

We all made it through tubes. It was stressful, more for me than anyone else, but we made it. N is doing pretty well. He's been running a low grade fever since the whole procedure - but apparently that's super normal and should end after a bit. Something else we've noticed? He seems like he can hear better, which makes for a more delicate sleeping situation. However, he's doing just fine and here are some pictures to prove it.

We got him a box - here he is playing in it.

He loves this box!

Here he is trying to fill E's shoes. He's got a bit of growing to do, but he enjoyed trying.

Tubes

Tomorrow my tiny tiny baby is going to get tubes. I know that he's not such a tiny tiny baby anymore. And I know that tubes are perhaps the most routine of childhood surgeries. And I know that this team of doctors does hundreds of these a month and it's really no big deal and I shouldn't worry at all.

But that doesn't stop me from worrying. The anesthesiologist just called to talk to me about tomorrow's procedure. He told me all kinds of important things like how long N will be out and exactly what kinds of things are going to happen. I heard "We're going to take your baby from you and knock him out and poke little holes in his ears with sharp pointy things then stick plastic stuff in the holes and then we'll toss him back to you."

I know this is crazy. I know N probably won't know the difference and in the end this is really the best thing because we're all tired of ear infections.

But that doesn't stop me from worrying.

Proof is in the super shaky video

Okay, so I promised proof of little man crawling. Here it is, although I'll preface with saying that this is super shaky and Zoee kept trying to steal the scene. Regardless, here's our little guy - on the move.
